Volunteer @ PDSC

Volunteer with Us

The heart of our club are the volunteers. PDSC is completely volunteer operated. Without our volunteers, races would not be sailed, results would not be recorded, the club would not be cleaned or maintained, food and drinks would not be able to be purchased, no administration would be done or regatta management carried out.

On Water Volunteer Opportunities

The PDSC sailing program continues to operate with the enthusiasm and commitment of volunteers. The ability to continue to deliver a first class sailing program depends very much on the assistance and support of these volunteers.

If spending a free afternoon on the Swan, in good company, performing a highly valued club service sounds good to you, we would love to hear from you.  Maybe you are between boats, happy to support your partner racing, new to the sport and/or simply interested in learning how yacht racing is conducted.

Any level of experience is welcomed, whether you are a beginner or an International Race Officer, a willingness to have a go and support our sailors is all that is required.

Positions available include
Safety Boat Crew/Drivers
Start Boat Team

On-Shore Volunteer Opportunities

Don't want to be on a boat on the water - no problems.
We require plenty of on-shore volunteers as well.

Perhaps you would like to have the best view of the racing? Why not volunteer in our control tower manning the radio and recording results as the boats sail across the finish line.

Or is food and drink more your style -would you prefer to work in our canteen? We have morning shifts (9am - 11am)  which involve making rolls for lunch for the hungry sailors and then selling lunch and drinks (11am - 2pm), followed by afternoon shifts (2pm - 5pm) which involve selling after race snacks, hot food and drinks.

Alternatively, we also require volunteers in our bar after racing our sailors get rather thirsty after a hard days racing.

Our management committee are also always looking for volunteers to assist with club management and administration and there is also plenty of maintenance to do around the place, whether that's mowing the lawns or fixing areas in and around the clubhouse or club equipment

On-Shore Positions available include
Results Recorders
Radio Operators
Beach Marshals
Canteen
Bar
General Maintenance/Gardening
Committee roles/administration
